Siamo già alla Week 2 e nessuno apre il topic, per cui vi tolgo l'imbarazzo e ci penso io. 

Cominciamo col dire che l'alta definizione di ESPN America è qualcosa di eccezionale, e che in chiaro in Italia non si vede alcunchè visto che sportitalia ha scaricato il football.

Prime due weeks decisamente intense per le "big": al debutto i Giants sono subito caduti a Dallas, rifacendosi domenica scorso con una bella rimonta contro i Bucs, i miei Packers hanno ceduto ai Niners che quest'anno mi piacciono molto (clamoroso il field goal di Akers da 60 yards (!!) che sbatte sulla crossbar e  rimbalza tra i pali), asfaltando poi giovedì notte i Bears (mitico il td di Crabtree su punt fake), Patriots, solito dream-team nella AFC, travolgenti alla prima ma stoppati subito da Arizona, Eagles che le hanno vinte tutte e due ma a fatica.

Poi ci sono i Jets della coppia Sanchez-Tebow, vincenti al debutto contro buffalo ma battuti con un secondo tempo da incubo a pittsburgh, dove gli steelers riscattano la sconfitta a denver in week 1.

Dietro le favorite tanti nomi curiosi: innanzitutto i Texans, che quest'anno possono decisamente puntare in alto, che sono partiti subito bene con due vittorie, e che domenica sera sfideranno i Broncos di Payton Manning, altro team che ha destato parecchio interesse e che potrebbe essere una outsider, anche se mostrano ancora tanti limiti (primo quarto shock ad Atlanta, con tre intercetti e un fumble! e partita compromesa). Ci sono poi i Redskins di Robert Griffin III, il QB Rookie che ha già mostrato ottime cose battendo i Saints in week 1, anche se la sua squadra è riuscita a perdere a St. Louis per 28-31 quando conduceva 21-3!

Poca cosa al momento i Browns di Trent Richardson, così come i Colts di Andrew Luck, insieme a RG3 prime scelte del draft, sembrano in crisi i Saints nonostante Drew Brees faccia ancora paura (ma la difesa, che come tutti sanno fa vincere le partite, non c'è), solidi come al solito i Falcons anche se non mi sembrano avere quel quid in più per arrivare più in alto di quanto fatto negli scorsi anni.

Per il resto, almeno dalle prime due weeks, vedo molto equilibrio, mi hanno impressionato soprattutto i Texans ed i Niners, con Alex Smith che finalmente sta facendo vedere di cosa è capace, ed una difesa mostruosa. Gli acquisti di Randy Moss e Mario Manningham hanno poi dato sprint all'attacco.

Non abbiamo detto nulla sugli arbitri: forse non tutti sanno che i referrees ufficiali sono in sciopero, non è stato trovato l'accordo con la lega che ha deciso di rimpiazzarli con "dilettanti allo sbaraglio" provenienti dalle serie inferiori.

Costoro prendono toppe continue provocando le proteste di tutti i teams, che stanno pensando di pagare di tasca loro pur di riavere gli arbitri professionisti

Bellissimo l'episodio capitato in week 2, quando l'emittente ESPN ha scoperto che l'arbitro designato per il match dei Saints (contro i Panthers credo) era in realtà tifosissimo della squadra di New Orleans (sul suo profilo facebook c'erano foto che lo ritraevano allo stadio), provocandone la sostituzione all'ultimo secondo.

Bè, st'anno i Packers sono forti come dal 2010, il mercato è stato fatto con lo scopo di migliorare sulle corse  (è arrivato Cedric Benson dai Bengals) e di irrigidire un pò una difesa troppo allegra, in pratica gli storici punti deboli che ad oggi rimangono tali.
Coi Niners abbiamo scajato, mai in partita, pure perchè quelli hanno una difesa paurosa. Coi Bears qualche segnale in più s'è visto, difesa tatticamente non perfetta ma Matthews ha sackato Jay Cutler 6 (!) volte. Mettiamoci pure che è fuori per infortunio Greg Jennings, non l'ultima pippa dei WR, e che Donald Driver, che pure il suo sporco lavoro lo fa ancora, a marzo ha vinto Dancing with the stars

Che spettacolo quest'inizio di stagione, cavolo.

Splendida, splendida vittoria dei Raiders sugli Steelers, in rimonta col fg di Janikowski a sigillare il 34-31 finale. Ottimo Carson Palmer, in generale gran prova di squadra di Oakland mentre gli Steelers dopo aver dominato la gara crollano nell'ultimoquarto con errori offensivi abbastanza clamorosi.

Ancora una prova di forza dei Texans che sbancano Denver, mai in partita e piuttosto deludente (neanche Manning senza ricevitori decenti può molto), cadono i Niners sotto i colpi dei Vikes, mentre i Jets inaspettatamente sudano a Miami ma vincono all'OT.

Un Sunday Night di livello assoluto, Patriots@Ravens. Un testa a testa all'ultimo sangue dal primo all'ultimo secondo letteralmente. Pats che volano sul 13-0 sfruttando un Joe Flacco in fase di carburazione, ma vengono rimontati 14-13 (straordinaria ricezione di Smith nel secondo td di Baltimore). Comincia il punto a punto, 14-20, 21-20, 21-30, 28-30 Patriots a 5' dalla fine.

Clamorosa toppa degli arbitri che su un 3rd & long concluosi con un intercetto dei Ravens vedono un personal foul di Baltimore consegnando 15 yards ai Pats e ulteriori 5 per gli sfanculamenti doverosi di Harbaugh. Per fortuna la decisione non influenzerà il risultato, dato che i Ravens riescono a recuperare palla e grazie ad un magistrale drive di Joe Flacco ad arrivare al field goal che a 2" dal termine fissa il punteggio sul 31-30. Da segnalare le rosicate di Belichik, coach di NE, che arriva addirittura a strattonare l'arbitro senza penalità (tra l'altro contestava un pass interference assolutamente sacrosanto).

Grandissima sfida, se i Ravens non si squaglieranno sul più bello come al solito sono, insieme ai Texans, l'avversaria più insidiosa per New England nella AFC.

Rapidi sul resto: Chicago si rialza battendo gli insipidi Rams, bella sfida tra Redskins e Bengals che espugnano Washington di un td (ottimo l'asse Dalton-Green), vincono i Cowboys, i Bills, i Jaguars che sbancano Indy, vincono e convincono Arizona, che strapazza Phila con il veccio tandem Kolb-Fitzgerald (e ritornando un fumble di 93 yards!!), e Atlanta, che va a dominare a San Diego (straordinario Ryan, per quanto mi stia sul catzo), fuochi d'artificio tra Titans e Lions con gli special teams di Tennessee scatenati, crisi nera per i Saints che cedono in casa anche ai Chiefs ed insieme ai Browns (Trent Richardson ancora non decolla) segnano un pesante 0-3 (non a tavolino  )

Falcons, Cardinals e Texans sono le uniche tre a punteggio pieno, stanotte, come tutti sapete, i Packers sfideranno a Seattle i Seahawks e si chiuderà la week 3. Nela speranza che tornino presto gli arbitri veri.

azz non lo sapevo! brutta perdita per i Jets e per la lega

bruttissima partita dei packers che cedono 14-12 ai seahawks, giocando non più di un quarto in totale. Pessima la linea offensiva, pessimi gli arbitri che assegnano un contestatissimo td decisivo agli hawks e in generale sbagliano diverse chiamate. Spero che le cose si risolvano perchè ne stanno rovinando parecchie.

Mi spiace perchè alla fine i Seahawks meritavano, visto che giocava la riserva di Flynn (ex-riserva di Rodgers) e che i Packers sono stati irriconoscibili (8 sacks subiti e 67 yds totali nel primo tempo), ma sul lancio decisivo Tate spinge Shields (pass interference) e la palla la piglia Jennings, con Tate che solo in un secondo momento ne guadagna il possesso (da regolamento, se due avversari agguantano la palla nello stesso momento, il possesso è dell'attacco). Clamorosa pure la scenetta: un arbitro dà touchdown, l'altro no.

ah, e rosico, se non si fosse capito. 'sto weekend non ne è andata bene una 

ho rosicato domenica scorsa che me so' perso la partita contro i Bengals perché stavo allo stadio.

Reggie Bush: Darrelle Revis' injury was karma for Jets

When it comes to NFL players commenting on their colleagues' injuries, the "Bambi" rule is a solid guide. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Reggie Bush's childhood must not have included that classic.

The seventh-year pro was a marked man in the Miami Dolphins' 23-20 overtime loss to the New York Jets last Sunday, as Rex Ryan said his team wanted to "put a little hot sauce" on the running back. Bush suffered a knee injruy in the second quarter, but an MRI revealed Monday he suffered no structural damage.

Relieved as he was to learn his injury is not serious, Bush couldn't help but thumb his nose at the Jets -- who lost cornerback Darrelle Revis to a torn anterior cruciate ligament on a non-contact injury -- before moving on.

"It's like the old saying, what goes around comes around," Bush said in a radio appearance Tuesday on WBGG-FM in Miami, per the Palm Beach Post. "They talked about all week about putting hot sauce and this and that, and they ended up losing their best player for the rest of the season. So, it's sad that it happened because of that, but I'm going to be back."

That might not be the wisest way to needle a division rival whom Bush has to face again this season. The Jets' defense might not be the same without Revis, but it will have plenty of players who will recall that quote when the Week 8 matchup at MetLife Stadium rolls around.

But maybe Bush is ready for another serving of Ryan's Tabasco.

CULVER CITY, Calif. -- We ran into Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald in the hallway Tuesday morning, and he told Around the League that concern over the replacement officials isn't limited to the players and coaches of the Green Bay Packers.

"I think that the consistency that we're used to, what the standard has been over the years, I don't think we have that right now," Fitzgerald said. "As a player, you just want them to protect the shield, protect the integrity of the game. This is what people turn games on for ... because they know they're going to get a product that's the best in the world, it's been proven. And I think the NFL officials have a big place in that. ... They've kept the game played well to a higher standard for many years, and we want to just get that back."

Fitzgerald was at NFL Network to promote "The Jersey Report," a Dick's Sporting Goods initiative that allows fans to track the jersey sales of their favorite players. We predict a sharp downturn in Wisconsin-based commerce for any garb celebrating Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate, whose controversial catch in the end zone was simultaneously ruled a touchdown by one replacement official and an interception by another. A head-spinning uproar was born.

"I saw that play, and it was -- I think it was clearly an interception, and I think everybody feels the same way," Fitzgerald said. "It's really tough. You work so hard throughout the course of the week, throughout the course of the offseason, to try to win games, and to lose them like that, it's just tough."

NFL, referees reach agreement; refs back on field Thursday

The NFL reached an eight-year agreement with the NFL Referees Association on Wednesday night to end the lockout, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the refs will be back on the field starting Thursday night.

The new collective bargaining agreement is the longest between the league and game officials in NFL history.


"The long-term future of our game requires that we seek improvement in every area, including officiating," Goodell said in a statement released by the league. "This agreement supports long-term reforms that will make officiating better. The teams, players and fans want and deserve both consistency and quality in officiating.

"We look forward to having the finest officials in sports back on the field, and I want to give a special thanks to NFL fans for their passion. Now it's time to put the focus back on the teams and players where it belongs."

Goodell temporarily lifted the lockout so officials can work Thursday night's game between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens (8 p.m. ET on NFL Network). Officials will vote on the agreement Friday and Saturday in Dallas, and a clinic for them will be held after the vote.

NFL referee Ed Hochuli told NFL.com's Jeff Darlington that he's ready to work a game this weekend. The officials expect to ratify the deal Saturday morning, Hochuli said.

"But all 121 guys and I are very glad we're back," Hochuli said. "We are ready. We missed preseason, and there's nothing we can do about missing on-field practice. But we've worked very, very hard over the last several months. We've taken 18 extensive rules tests, watched hours and hours of video every week. We've worked very hard to be prepared. I think we're ready."

When asked how many curls he did when he heard the rumors that a deal might be getting done today, the famously muscular Hochuli said, "As soon as I heard the rumors, I got down on the floor and started doing pushups."

The league released the following terms of the agreement:


» The current defined benefit pension plan will remain in place for current officials through the 2016 season (or until the official earns 20 years of service). The defined benefit plan then will be frozen.

» Retirement benefits will be provided for new hires, and for all officials beginning in 2017, through a defined contribution arrangement, which will have two elements: an annual league contribution made on behalf of each game official that will begin with an average of more than $18,000 per official and increase to more than $23,000 per official in 2019, and a partial match on any additional contribution that an official makes to his 401(k) account.

» Apart from their benefit package, the game officials' compensation will increase from an average of $149,000 per year in 2011 to $173,000 in 2013, rising to $205,000 by 2019.

» Beginning with the 2013 season, the NFL will have the option of hiring a number of officials on a full-time basis to work year-round, including on the field.

» The NFL will have the option to retain additional officials for training and development purposes and can assign those additional officials to work NFL games. The number of additional officials will be determined by the NFL.

The NFL used replacement referees for the first three weeks of the season, triggering a wave of outrage that culminated Monday night with the Green Bay Packers' loss on a chaotic final play at Seattle.

"We appreciate the effort that the replacement refs gave during such a difficult time," Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour wrote in a text message to NFL.com and NFL Network's Steve Wyche. "We look forward to getting back on the field with the PROFESSIONALS that we entrust will restore faith in our players, coaches and most importantly, our fans."

Un Thursday Night inaspettatamente combattuto vede i Ravens (3-1) trionfare di un td 23-16 sui coraggiosi Browns che infilano la quarta sconfitta in 4 partite.

Come già detto Baltimore quest'anno mostra solidità e meccanismi ben oliati e può davvero ambire ad un posto al superbowl. Splendida partita di uno dei miei WR preferiti, Anquan Boldin.

Buoni segnali comunque anche sul fronte Browns, che hanno rette bene il campo arrivando a giocarsi il pareggio all'ultimo lancio. Buona prova del QB Brandon Weeden, ottavo rookie più anziano di sempre (28 anni) ed ex NY Yankees, e di Trent Richardson che nonostante risulti ancora negativo sulle corse, non aiutato dai suoi, si dà da fare e spesso è il primo target di Weeden sui lanci.

Nel primo tempo paura per jason Cribbs che resta a terra privo di conoscenza, ma fortunatamente si rimette in sesto poco dopo.
