He reminds me a bit of a drug addict, or an alcoholic. He may well be able to get himself on the straight and narrow for short bursts, but in the end he simply doesn't have the mental capacity to turn his life around. There was a 3 month spell last season (Spurs away sort of time) where he clearly had his head screwed on, was fully focussed and showed what a talent he was. Then gradually things started to change and he went off the rails again.
Wherever he goes, whoever he joins, it will be the same story. He may well move to Lazio, put in a few stunning performances and the this board will be going spastic at the board having let him leave on a free. But you can bet your bottom dollar he'll go off the rails again, be moved on, given another 'last chance' and the cycle will be repeated.
Let him go.
