"After careful consideration, Toots Thielemans has decided to end his musical career. He doesn't feel strong enough to play a full concert, up to the high standard he wishes to perform. He did not want to disappoint his audience and therefore decided to cancel all scheduled concerts.
Toots Thielemans wants to enjoy his well-deserved rest at his 91 years. He can look back at an extremely successful career with many challenges in which his musicality always excelled. In his long career, he played with the greatest and finest musicians.
He wishes to thank the audience, his fans, organizers, promotors and fellow musicians from all over the world for 'everything they have given him'. The musician hopes to be remembered as the little boy from Brussels that became a global citizen".In 70 anni di carriera ha suonato in tutto il mondo con tutto il mondo.
E' grazie a lui se mi sono comprato la mia prima armonica, e mi sono appassionato a questo minuscolo strumento dopo essere stato completamente rapito dallo struggente tema finale di "un uomo da marciapiede".

Il mio grande cruccio e' quello di non essere mai riuscito a vederlo dal vivo.
